CORINNE KENTOR
CUNY Office of Applied Research, Evaluation & Data Analytics (OAREDA)
From 2018-2022, I served as a Research Fellow at CUNY OAREDA. In this capacity, I led and contributed to research projects focused on improving public postsecondary education in New York City. Summaries of my two primary projects are available below.
CUNY K-16 Initiatives
College Bridge for All
College Counseling Initiative
This project focused on understanding the experiential factors contributing to attrition and "summer melt" at CUNY. Drawing on interviews and focus groups with high school counselors and near-peer mentors, I examined how bureaucratic roadblocks that arose in relation to application, matriculation, and financial aid activities affected undergraduates' relationship to their college and their sense of belonging in higher education.

CUNY Career Success Fellows
In collaboration with CEWP staff, I led an investigation of career readiness knowledge across different CUNY campuses. This project sought to understand (1) how undergraduates accessed information about internships and careers; (2) faculty knowledge around career readiness and willingness to engage in preprofessional advising; and (3) the role of the career center across the university system. This project sparked two subsequent initiatives: an investigation of virtual work opportunities during the COVID-19 pandemic and a faculty learning community devoted to disseminating information on postgraduate career outcomes.
